Businessmen from Pleven and the region discussed the economic challenges of the pandemic

More than 60 participants brought together the two thematic debates on the lessons of the Covid crisis, which the Foundation "Modern Pleven Media" (FSPM) organized under the project "To manage the COVID crisis with care, reason, values, unity, solidarity".
On the morning of July 8, 2022, a debate was held with business representatives in the art hall of the Rostov Hotel - Pleven, led by the financier Martin Zaimov. The co-organizer of the event was the Branch Business Chamber - Pleven. The chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Pleven, representatives of various sectors participated: finance, IT-business, real estate, agriculture and animal husbandry, trade, services, tourism, pharmacy, organization of exhibitions.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of FSPM, Ivanka Vateva, with a short presentation, showed and talked about the topics of the debates held in the other partner countries: Greece, Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania and Serbia. The idea of the project, encoded in its name, is that applying European values with reason, care, unity and solidarity is the most effective way to deal with the consequences of the crisis caused by Covid-19 in all spheres of life.
Martin Zaimov won over the audience with his unconventional approach to the topic of the impact of the coronavirus on the economy and entrepreneurship. He began his presentation with graphs showing the current situation in Europe in terms of infection and mortality from Covid-19, showed a cartoon that impressed him, according to which the wave of the virus is followed by larger waves of collapse in health care, recession, climate change, biodiversity loss, wars. His assertions about the role of science and the media, about the role of science and the media, about the fact that, according to him, there is no demographic catastrophe and that Bulgaria is not poor, because the welfare surveys do not take into account all the personal property of the population, and that in general, polls make generalizations and the results are not equally valid for different groups.
The participants in the discussion wanted to analyze together with the attendees the situation in 3 sectors - the real estate market, digitalization and agriculture. Although all three topics are huge in volume, a conversation ensued. From it came conclusions, lessons and advice. Those present were united in the opinion that such discussions are very necessary and it would be useful to hold them more often and regularly.
