Answers by musicians to questions about the pandemic period
Greek partner’s Lessons from the crisis

Within the framework of the project"Manage the COVID crisis with Care, reasOn, Values, unIty, soliDarity" the Greek partners from EDUCOMMART successfully held three events -briefings for:
• musicians of the Underground Youth Orchestra at the Athens Concert Hall
• musicians of the music school in Kalamata “Maria Kallas”
• musicians of the music studio NMA “Salvia”

Here are the results of the 3 events in the frame of the project activities held in Greece:
“The Music members were informed about the objectives of the project, and with their answers to questions about music in the pandemic period, they helped us to draft the document that will be given to the European Commission.
We thank all of them, the conductor K. Eliades, the teacher K. Tsitsa and the Manager of the Music Studio for their kind and very interesting and constructive discussion."

In summary we received the following answers to the questions:
Is there a "recipe" for a culture in crisis?
The constant scheduling of daily obligations, or studying music, or engaging in gymnastics and making the most of leisure time with and new interests provided solutions to the confinement brought on by the pandemic.
Which countermeasures and assistance are most effective?
The countermeasures were aimed at combating anxiety, insecurity, and in cultivating hope that the pandemic will end and return to normalcy.
The help that was particularly important was from family and friends, and involved psychological support.
Government help was about financial and health support for the community.
Can the crisis give rise to new associations or new creative methods?
The crisis has brought new methods as far as the use of technology and communication in new platforms of professional or educational orientation is concerned.
Young musicians have been able to get in touch with musicians from Europe and the world and to create musical projects and attend seminars online.
For professional musicians who have already made a career, promoting music through YouTube music platforms is now a one-way street until the pandemic is over and live concerts are possible.
In what forms would external assistance be possible?
State level assistance to manage the pandemic came after Greece's alignment with the European Union and the measures taken to protect European peoples, (vaccines, medicines, hygiene rules.)
The direct financial support to the countries and the economy that sank into despair of small and medium-sized enterprises and households, as well as the immediate reinforcement of hospitals with doctors must be the firstthat should be supported and developed.
Did music and art help you to overcome the crisis and how?
Daily involvement with music, research on new genres of music, contact even through the internet kept the mood and psychology of the young people and helped them to get through this unprecedented situation.
The young musicians set freedom and creation as the main value.
The professionals continued their creation and the presentation of their work on the internet, looking for income from other jobs to support themselves and their families.”
